2020 Honda Accord vs Ford Fusion

Honda Accord vs Ford Fusion

2020 Honda Accord 2020 Honda Accord Review Contact Us

Is a sophisticated midsize sedan next on your list of priorities? If you’re a driver near Marlton, Mt. Laurel, or Cherry Hill, it’s likely that the 2020 Honda Accord and Ford Fusion are two of your top prospects.

Since you can only choose one, Burns Honda has come up with the following Accord vs. Fusion comparison to help you decide which one has the features you need most.

2020 Honda Accord vs Ford Fusion: Engine Power and MPG

2020 Honda Accord Engine SpecsSomething we love about the Honda Accord and Ford Fusion is that they both add a lot of energy to your daily commutes. In fact, they both come with an available 1.5L turbocharged engine, although it gets a bit more horsepower in the Accord:

  • Honda Accord: 192 horsepower
  • Ford Fusion: 181 horsepower

We also looked at the fuel economy for this engine. We found that, despite delivering more horsepower, the LX, EX, and EX-L trims of the Accord actually achieve a higher EPA-estimated fuel efficiency than the Focus when equipped with the 1.5L turbocharged engine.1

  • Honda Accord Fuel Economy: 30 MPG city, 38 MPG highway1
  • Ford Fusion Fuel Economy: 23 MPG city, 34 MPG highway

The difference in fuel economy is due in part to the different transmissions. The Accord sports a continuously variable transmission (CVT) while the Fusion has a 6-speed automatic.

Another difference worth noting is that the Accord makes its 1.5L turbocharged engine standard, while the Fusion comes standard with a 175-horsepower engine that doesn’t include that turbocharged kick.

2020 Honda Accord MPG

If you want even more power, you can also upgrade to the 2.0L turbocharged engine that’s available for both sedans. Here’s how their horsepower outputs measure up:

  • Honda Accord: 252 horsepower
  • Ford Fusion: 245 horsepower

As you can see above, the 2.0L turbocharged engine in the Ford Fusion falls just short of the horsepower that the Accord produces.

Interior Dimensions

As midsize sedans, you can be sure that both the Honda Accord and Ford Fusion will give you comfortable interior dimensions that accommodate the cargo and passengers you’re bringing along for the ride.

They both have two rows of seats and can carry up to five passengers, including the driver. They even give everyone a similar amount of headroom, at approximately 39 inches of headroom for front-seat riders and approximately 37 inches of headroom for rear-seat riders.

2020 Honda Accord Interior

Back-seat passengers may find that the have a bit more wiggle room, however, considering their rear legroom dimensions:

  • Honda Accord rear legroom: 40.4 inches
  • Ford Fusion rear legroom: 38.3 inches

Rear passengers likely have more space in the Accord because it has a total passenger volume of 105.6 cubic feet compared to just 102.8 cubic feet of passenger volume in the Fusion.

Otherwise, both sedans offer up comparable amounts of cargo room. The Honda Accord has a trunk volume of 16.7 cubic feet and the Ford Fusion has a trunk volume of 16 cubic feet.
