If you want a dynamic driving experience, you’ll probably like that both the Accord and Altima come with an available 2.0L turbo I-4 engine that generates 273 lb-ft of torque. In the Accord, this available engine delivers 252 horsepower, while in the Altima, it produces 248 horsepower.
As for their standard engines, the Honda Accord comes with a 1.5L turbo I-4 engine that generates 192 horsepower and 192 lb-ft of torque. The standard engine in the Nissan Altima, on the other hand, is a 2.5L I-4 engine that produces 188 horsepower and 180 lb-ft of torque.
There is also an available hybrid engine you can get with the 2022 Accord. Unfortunately, the Nissan Altima doesn’t offer this kind of powertrain versatility.

When you get behind the wheel of either the Honda or Nissan model, you’ll find that you have plenty of space to stretch out, including just over 39 inches of headroom. Both sedans also have enough seats for five passengers total, including the driver.
If you want the interior to feel even more spacious, you can opt for an available power moonroof in either car. This feature fills the cabin with natural light and fresh air.
Overall, the Accord comes with more cabin space with 105.6 cubic feet of passenger volume. The Nissan Altima has 100.8 cubic feet of passenger volume inside its cabin.
When it’s time to load up for your next big trip, you might be able to pack heavier in the Accord. The Honda model has a total trunk space of 16.7 cubic feet - compare that to just 15.4 cubic feet in the Altima, and you’ll find a difference of approximately one standard-sized suitcase.

You’ll want to make sure your next car is going to help you get where you need to go as safely as possible. Luckily, both models have standard frontal-collision-avoidance systems.
All in all, these types of features monitor the road ahead for potential hazards. If detected, they’ll issue a warning for you to slow down. Should you not react in time, they can even automatically hit the brakes for you to try and avoid a potential collision.
The Accord provides several other standard features as well, and all are part of the Honda Sensing® suite. This suite includes systems like:
- Road Departure Mitigation System
- Lane Keeping Assist System
- Adaptive Cruise Control with Low-Speed Follow
- Traffic Sign Recognition
- Auto High-Beam Headlights
The Altima offers comparable features, but you’ll have to upgrade your trim level or add on a package to access them all.
